CSA - Weekly Vegetable Box - 2012

In 2012, Mad Dog Farm will be continuing to offer its CSA.

Although we produce a lot of vegetables each season, we normally only supply to supermarkets and other commercial outlets. However, as more and more people come to the farm to buy fresh vegetable on a weekly basis and quite a few of you have requested that we supply a box of vegetables for collection each week and we  decided in 2010, after 3 years of procrastination, that this was probably a good idea - and this year we will be continuing the CSA.

We have decided to offer only 30 memberships for 2013. This being well within our growing capacity, ensuring that all our CSA members end the season well satisfied with what they have received and that we as growers have provided good value to our members.

So, how will the CSA work?

The CSA will run for 22 weeks I.e. from  1st May to 30th September, and we will have one box size available, sized for 3 people to give a weeks worth of vegetables.

The box price will be $25 / week for the 22 week season, payable in advance. (Payment, in full $ 550.00) is due with us by the 1st March 2012.

For this you will get a box of vegetable every week. Your box of vegetables over the whole year should have an average value of $35 if bought in a store - but there will be less apparent value in the early spring as the growing season pick up.

In addition, the farm shop will be open, when the boxes are due to be collected, so if you want to buy extra vegetables for a family weekend or a party, it can all be done at the same time.

There is NO work commitment with our CSA - we do not require you to work on the farm. However, if you would like to come and work, you are welcome to come on Saturday morning to help with activities taking place.

If you would like to visit the farm, again you are welcome at any time.

Crops we are growing for the CSA

The farm also produces other products that are not included in the CSA.

Honey: This will be available in season for bulk purchase from the farm shop.

Walnuts: We have 3 large Walnut trees on the farm, you are free to come and collect up your own nuts in season.

Winter storage vegetables: We will also be able to supply boxes of vegetables to see you through the winter. 40 lb boxes of Potatoes, Rutabagas, Turnips and Winter Squash will be available at discount prices for members of the CSA.

Some other points to note (the small print):

Most of you will disappear in the summer for holidays - there is no refund for this period. You can either have a friend collect the box in your place or we will donate it in your name to a food cupboard or a needy family.

Your commitment to the CSA is for the year. If you wish to withdraw during the year, it is your responsibility to sell the balance of your membership. If we have a waiting list, we will pass the details on to assist you.

Safety on the farm is a priority.

If you visit the farm or come to work on it, we must insist that all safety and other instructions are followed for your and our protection.

No pets will be allowed on the farm at any time.

Children must be supervised by their parents at all times.
