Scarlet Empire

Heavy crops of long smooth textured dark-green 12-15 in long pods. Excellent for freezing. Grown and Selected for 5 years.

A British bred, gardeners' favourite for high yields and reliability. It is early to flower, the vigorous plants produce clusters of 10 in stringless fleshy pods of good flavour throughout the season. It prefers well-drained, moist, rich soil. Grown and Selected for 7 years.

White Lady

A premier variety in every way. The pure white flowers are less prone to being picked by birds, so the resulting crop is much greater. It also sets better than any other variety when it comes to high temperatures. The long, mid green pods with white seeds hang in numerous clusters, and are both smooth and stringless. Grown and Selected for 6 years.

20 seeds

An appropriate name for a runner bean with enormously long 20 in, smooth slender pods. Early, very high yields with plenty of vigour. Apart from its good flavour, it crops over a long period. Grown and Selected for 5 years.

Painted Lady

A striking addition, equally at home in the flower and vegetable garden. It has attractive red and white bicoloured flowers that are followed by a heavy crop of delicious, 9-12 in long beans. Grown and Selected for 7 years.

Runner Beans

Freight and Tax

A few Runner Beans should be planted in everyone's garden. As long as the beans are well watered and well fed, these beans will out produce any other bean.

All the Runner Beans are ‘meaty’ beans, with a good strong ‘beany’ flavour. They can and freeze well and are extremely decorative in the garden. Even if you don’t like beans, they are worth growing just to watch the Humming Birds they attract.
